REPORTS TO : Supervisor of Food Service

WORK YEAR: Board-adopted school year calendar

SALARY RANGE: Appropriate step on Board-approved salary schedule

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Working knowledge of cooking techniques, terms, ServSafe practices and high-tech equipment use
  • Preferred minimum of three years’ experience preparing food for large quantities
  • Energetic, encouraging attitude even through peak service periods
  • Ability to perform accurate food service calculations including recipe scaling, portion determinations, yield calculations, inventory tracking, and completion of production records
  • Ability to maintain positivity with students and staff, and handle all situations in a calm manner
  • Proficiency in working in an organized, efficient, priority-based manner
  • Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, and resilience in responding to unexpected challenges and student demand, all while maintaining high standards of service
  • Ability to tolerate standing at workstations for extended periods
  • Ability to move in and out of cooler/freezer temperature extremes
  • Ability to lift and carry bulk items averaging 50 pounds and push/pull items averaging 250 pounds
  • Capacity to work alone and as an integrated member of the cafeteria team; prioritization of strong working relationships with Head Cashier and Supervisor of Food Service
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional leadership role, serving as an example for the department
  • Prioritize Penta Career Center’s success as a large, multifaceted organization and strive to aid in the enrichment of the entire student body and overall district mission
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Meet all mandated health requirements (e.g., negative tuberculosis test, etc.)
  • Documented evidence of a clear criminal record

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Prepare and serve breakfast and lunch to students, staff and special function groups
  • Assist in taking monthly inventories, weekly ordering, and properly receiving daily shipments
  • Maintain complete and accurate records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, equipment and service areas
  • Work under the guidelines of Penta Career Center’s Mission Statement and goals
  • Attend district and state professional development events as applicable
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with Cafeteria Workers, Penta Administration, and all Penta Personnel
  • Remain free of any non-prescribed controlled substance or alcohol in the workplace throughout employment
  • Assume any other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent, Director, Supervisor, or their designee(s)
