Plant Janitor / Production Facility Assistant
Location: Naugatuck, Connecticut

Responsibilities
The position will be responsible for a variety of duties and assist in multiple departments. The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
CLEANING / SANITATION
- Production Areas (Processing Area, Milling Room, Packing Room, Production Lab)
- Washing of all production floors and walls (daily or as needed)
- Cleaning of overhead ducts and area above washable walls (2x per year)
- Cleaning of Sanitation Mats
- Cleaning of warehouse floor and maintenance area
- Daily Sanitation (trash removal) in production and warehouse areas, and place in collection bin
- Monthly cleaning of spiral duct work in production area
- Clean machine shops floor once per month
- Warehouse
- Clean the floors (2x per month)
- Clean the racks (annually)
- Pest Control
- Manage the pest control program
- Conduct weekly inspections of devices (interior and exterior) and bug lights (interior). Document findings and replace glue boards or lights as needed
- Meet with third party pest control contractor to inspect pest control devices (monthly)
- Point of contact with pest control company to request additional services.
- Cleaning reagents and chemical inventory
- Maintain inventory of cleaning reagents and order as needed
- Monitoring of bleach solution concentration (daily or as needed)
- Weekly monitoring of soap dispensers, hand sanitizers, paper goods and PPE (hair nets, beard nets, gloves).
- Oversee the sanitation program of the facility acting as the Sanitation Supervisor.
- Perform weekly sanitation inspections and record findings on the sanitation checklist.
- Report any nonconformances to QA Manager.
- Secondary Responsibilities
- Assist in various departments as needed
- Weigh and loading ingredients into machines for production as per instructions on batch record
- Milling and packing of finished products.
- Metal detecting packed finished products.
- Preparing trays and cartons for packing.
- Set up and operate manufacturing equipment- blenders, granulators, mill, etc.
- Stage utensils for manufacturing
- Load products onto trays for drying
- Assist in milling products
- PACKAGING AND LABELING
- Weigh and pack finished products
- Apply labels on packaged product containers
- PROCEDURES
- Written standard operating procedures must be followed at all stages in manufacturing
- Follow proper hygiene and safety protocols as per written procedures
- Document cleaning on logs for all equipment
- Assist by unloading shipping containers, loading outbound orders onto trucks, checking orders, and other various shipping/receiving functions.
- FACILITIES MAINTENANCE
- Assist on projects as needed, examples include milling room fan filter change, machinery belt adjustment, man lift battery check/watering, any job that requires an extra set of hands/heavy lifting, turning on/off idle equipment for holidays or weekends, consulting on new equipment location and cleaning, move/temporarily relocate machinery for maintenance purposes.

- High School degree is required.
- Associates and / or Trade Degree is a plus.
- A Car and valid Drivers License Required.
- 1-3 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Forklift Certification a plus
- Must be able to safely lift 60 lbs.
- Self-motivated, able to perform work while standing for most of the day.
- Highly reliable, punctual, organized, and possesses good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
