RECPLEX CUSTODIAN - PART TIME - RECPLEX

CUSTODIAN (Part Time)

DEFINITION

To clean and maintain the Recplex building and grounds; to load refuse container; and to perform other custodial and maintenance duties relative to assigned area of responsibility.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from upper level management staff.

ESSENTIAL AND MARGINAL FUNCTION STATEMENTS--Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Essential Functions:

1. Sweep, mop, strip and wax floors; shake out mats; vacuum carpets.

2. Remove trash from building grounds and empty trash cans.

3. Dust furniture; polish glassware and windows.

4. Clean restrooms and water fountains.

5. Contain and clean areas affected by biological fluid emergencies.

6. Ensure all safety and fire regulations are followed.

7. Report supply and equipment needs to supervisor.

8. Perform daily preventative maintenance of site custodial equipment.

9. Perform minor maintenance duties on various building systems.

10. Monitor and inspect building facility for safety and cleanliness report hazardous or harmful situations to supervisor.

11. Ensure proper use, identification, mixture and application of chemicals, including the requirements and use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

12. Must have acceptable attendance and the ability to work well with people.

13. Any specific requirement that is stated in the "offer of employment letter".

Marginal Functions:

1. Check meeting and board rooms, clean as needed.

2. Set up chairs and tables for special events.

3. Answer phones when necessary.

4. Launder rags, towels, mop heads and other reusable cleaning accessories.

5. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

Principles and procedures of building maintenance.

Principles regarding the disposal of biological fluid.

Current building safety and fire regulations.

Sound and lighting technology.

Ability to:

Operate a variety of maintenance equipment, including an electric buffer, vacuum cleaner, chair and table dollies, and a variety of electric and power hand tools.

Work independently in the absence of supervision.

Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Environmental Conditions:

Mostly indoor environment; exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals; work with cleaning machinery; may work on scaffolds and ladders.

Physical Conditions:

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; and repeated bending.

License or Certificate:

A valid drivers license is required.
