Grounds and Maintenance Custodian

Step 0: $21.19/hr ($44,075 annually, paid over 24 pays at ~$1,836 per pay)
Schedule: 260 days, 8 hours/day, 30-minute unpaid lunch

This position emphasizes grounds, exterior property care, and facility upkeep , including mowing, athletic field maintenance, general exterior maintenance, and keeping district properties debris-free and visually pristine. The position also assists inside buildings supporting custodial teams or the maintenance department, floating between buildings as needed to ensure safe, clean, and operational learning environments.

March – November: Grounds & Exterior Maintenance

• Mow and maintain district properties, athletic fields, and playground areas

• Weed control and seasonal landscape upkeep

• General exterior grounds care, including debris removal to keep properties clean and pristine

• Routine upkeep and minor repairs of grounds equipment

• Seasonal exterior building maintenance

• Snow removal as needed during early/late season

December – February: Custodial/Facilities Support

• Assist with general custodial tasks across buildings (cleaning, trash removal, floor care)

• Support building safety and cleanliness during winter operations

• Assist with minor maintenance and repair needs

• Snow removal during winter months

• High school diploma or GED

• Ability to understand and follow instructions

• Basic math, writing, email, and computer skills

• Ability to lead and guide others when needed

• Physically able to perform demanding tasks (lifting, bending, climbing, operating equipment)

Reports to the Director of Operations.

Grounds/Exterior:

• Mowing, trimming, and seasonal landscape upkeep

• Athletic and playground area maintenance

• General exterior grounds care and debris removal

• Snow removal from walkways and sidewalks

• Minor repairs to grounds/buildings equipment

• Exterior safety inspections and upkeep

Custodial (Winter Months):

• Cleaning and sanitizing assigned areas

• Floor care: sweeping, mopping, buffing

• Trash and recycling collection

• Minor maintenance tasks (light bulbs, minor repairs)

• Snow removal during winter

• Support building setups for events as needed
