Environmental Services Department at Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC)

The Environmental Services (EVS) department at Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) is integral to our mission of delivering exceptional patient care in one of the state’s most dynamic healthcare environments. As the only Level I Trauma Center in the state of Florida, ORMC operates at the highest level of clinical intensity—requiring unmatched precision, responsiveness, and collaboration from every department.

Our EVS team is at the forefront of maintaining a clean, safe, and healing environment, with a strong focus on infection prevention, regulatory compliance, and service excellence. The department supports 24/7 hospital operations in a high-acuity, fast-paced setting, ensuring that every space reflects the highest standards of care.

Position Summary:

Responsible for transporting regular waste, bio-hazardous waste and recycling waste, maintenance of trash containers, perform routine manual tasks inside and outside hospital and operate outside cleaning equipment; such as, but not limited to: pressure washer, leaf blower, Billy Goat and cart washing machine.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

As a self-motivated Team Member, the individual must adhere to all Standards of Behavior, exhibit excellent customer service
skills, and capable of functioning & working in a cohesive team environment.
Transports regular waste, bio-hazardous waste and recycling waste to the designated collection location and processed according
to appropriate trained procedures.
Performs routine manual tasks in the hospital or on the immediate grounds area related to cleaning.
In the Grounds position, perform litter and debris pick up tasks on the grounds of the hospital and/or on designated areas that will
leave area clean and litter-free.
Empties trash containers and clean them so they are free from spills and marks.
Operates outside cleaning equipment, such as, but not limited to, pressure washer, leaf blower, Billy Goat and cart washing
machine.
Wash low level outside windows and clean all door frames.
Takes a proactive approach to maintaining the identified patient and non-patient areas that need attention in order to be
compliant with all mandated and regulatory agency requirements.
Maintains work area in a safe manner by utilizing appropriate safety systems to protect patients, customers and team members.
To achieve a Superior Facility Image, this position is responsible for the cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms, and ancillary
areas, to include, but not limited to bathrooms, public areas, corridors, medication storage rooms as directed by licensed clinical
staff, and any other areas that may require attention using designated and appropriate chemicals and cleaning procedures.
Maintains equipment in a clean and functional condition at all times. Keeps work areas orderly, clean and safe.
Reports unsafe situations and turns in Engineering Service Requests for repair.
Works independently to complete tasks as assigned.
Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state
and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions

Willingly participates in doing Environmental Services duties although not directly assigned.
Attendance of in-services.
Participates in Department Quality Assurance activities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Training

Ability to read and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.
Must have good working knowledge and be capable of accessing and using all department related computer systems such as but not limited to the Tele-Tracking programs that include Service Response where applicable.
