Maintenance Custodian

Qualifications:
*High School diploma or equivalent
*A working knowledge of roofs, windows HVAC, electrical, plumbing,
mechanical systems, etc. is a plus, or a willingness to be trained in
such.
*Experience working with adults/students in an authoritative role.
*Such Alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate.

Reports To:
*Maintenance Foreman and Business Manager

Supervises:
*Student custodians and Part-time Custodial staff

Job Goal:
*Work with Maintenance Foreman, Business Manager,
and Custodians to provide a clean, safe educational
environment for all students.

Evaluation:
*Performance of this job will be evaluated in
accordance with the Board’s policy on Evaluation
of Classified Personnel.

Performance Responsibilities:
*Oversee opening, closing, and setting up of district
facilities as needed; on-call 24 hours a day for emergency
repairs or duties, such as respond to fire alarms, security
alarms, vandalism, etc. as needed.
*Perform repairs/maintenance and conduct preventative
maintenance to the exterior and interior of school
buildings/structures, roofs, windows, HVAC, equipment,
motors, electric, plumbing, freezers, blacktop, playground
equipment, fences, septic system, athletic fields, furniture,
tools etc.

*Must maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to
operate all school equipment and vehicles-including under
occasional inclement weather.

*Assist in ordering supplies/equipment, keeping inventory,
arranging delivery to warehouse and buildings and overall
warehouse upkeep.

*As needed mow, trim, and clean around buildings,
shrubs and plants.

*Participate in training programs as required by the District.

*Shall deviate from assigned work schedule only as
requested by supervisor.

*Care and clean ditches and sewers on school property.

*Report regularly at assigned time and be flexible to handle
needs of the District.

*Plowing or removal of snow, ice or debris from drives, sidewalks
and lots.

*Assist in setting buildings for activities as required and/or directed.

*Occasional work with equipment/devices involving electricity,
natural gas and hydraulic fluids, such as electric floor scrubbers
and other equipment.

*Deal with occasional exposure to blood and bodily fluids.

*Deal with students in a friendly manner, even the occasional
unruly student.

*Comply with all Plain Local Board of Education policies
and procedures.

*Perform other duties as directed.
