Quack's 43rd Street Bakery is a scratch bakery located in Hyde Park at the corner of 43rd and Duval. We are a retail and wholesale production bakery specializing in natural, scratch-made, approachable baked goods. Our Hyde Park location, which makes all of the products for our south location and some of the products for our east location, is a busy shop with many long-time regulars.

We are currently hiring for the AM shift, which is responsible for production of our pies, cookies, tea breads, brownies & bars, eclairs, and batters. The AM bake shift works from 6a-2p with a starting pay of $18/hr. Individual pay rate will be based on experience. We are looking for full-time bakers to work 5 days a week. Weekends and holidays are our busiest times, and we need bakers who have flexible scheduling around the weekends.

Job responsibilities:

Follow standardized recipes to produce consistent, quality product for guests

Complete production list efficiently and within the time constraints of the shift

Work with other team members to ensure all items arepleted to standards and on time

Maintain clean work environment, following health & safety standards

Contribute to daily kitchen-wideanization andpliance, including but not limited to: FIFO procedures; temp checks for BOH refrigeration units; end-of-shift cleaning tasks & deep cleans;municating maintenance issues & ordering needs; checking in & putting away orders; training new team members; assisting shift supervisor and kitchen manager as needed

Qualified candidates will have experience in the following areas:

Reading and following large- and small-scale recipes

Mixing batters, doughs, and other mixes

A general understanding of baking procedures including the creaming method, sponge method and making fillings like pastry creams and fruit fillings

An eye for detail and ability to adjust recipes or production on the fly

Excellent time management and solidmunication skills

Being a team player and collaborating with other bakers and employees

Job Requirements:

Reliable transportation

Access to certain apps for scheduling andpany-widemunication

Ability to be on your feet for an 8-hour shift

Capable of lifting 50 lbs; anything more than 50 lbs is a two-person job
