This is a non-permanent position that will work on an intermittent or seasonal basis.Individuals in the classification may not exceed 1,300 hours in a 12-month period.
Work shifts are generally 6:00 A.M. to 2:30 P.M., but may vary during scheduled
events such as tournaments and games.
Some positions may offer work shifts from 2:00 P.M. to 10:30 P.M.
Weekend and holiday work may be required.

ABOUT THIS JOB
Position Specific Summary
The General Maintenance Worker position at the City of Tucsons Parks and Recreation Department performs essential outdoor maintenance tasks for city parks and landscaped areas.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Parks Maintenance Coordinator. This position does not supervise.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Removes litter and debris from landscaped areas, playgrounds, and public facilities. Cleans, disinfects, and services parks restrooms and ramadas, especially for special events and reservations. Collects trash throughout park areas. Assists with weeding, general landscaping, and other groundskeeping projects.
- Prepares and maintains sports fields by performing routine grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing lawns and filling holes. Operates and maintains groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers.
- Assists in the installation, painting, and repair of playground equipment, ramadas, barbecue pits, tables, benches, signs, fences, small buildings, and other structures. Performs manual construction tasks to repair park's infrastructure, such as benches, ramadas, and fencing.
- Assists in moving and setting up booths, bleachers, tables, benches, and other equipment for civic events.
- Completes additional tasks as required to support park maintenance and operations. Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
Working Conditions
Work involves heavy exposure to extreme physical, ergonomic, or emotional hazardous environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Some high school
Work Experience: Under one (1) year of directly related experience
License: Valid and unrestricted Arizona Class D Driver License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior work experience in landscape maintenance
Prior work experience in custodial services
