This position performs a range of custodial duties related to the care, cleaning and minor maintenance of assigned buildings and facilities. Duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and dusting; cleaning and sanitizing restroom facilities and fixtures; emptying waste receptacles and removing refuse and debris from City parking lots and paved areas; and operating standard and high speed buffers and a water extract shampooer with wand. Duties may also include providing backup coverage for other custodial employees, identifying and performing minor building maintenance; and moving and arranging furniture and equipment for meetings and special functions. Must have formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to communicate in English at a level necessary for successful job performance. Six months experience in cleaning and maintaining building interiors, including shampooing carpets and stripping and waxing floors, required. Work location may vary; possibly working at multiple locations within a shift. Schedule will require flexibility, working varied five days out of seven, including evenings, nights and weekends, with typically two consecutive days off. There is potential for some overtime. Applicants must submit hours of availability with application. Duties may involve access to sensitive Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS), which requires that a thorough background check be conducted. Candidates will be subject to a criminal history check. Must not have any criminal conviction above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or any Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years; other convictions may also be considered.
PAY GRADE GG07 / FULL PAY RANGE $15.10 - $21.28 PER HOUR
