Job Title: Cafeteria General Worker I (Anticipated Opening)
Overview:
New London Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cafeteria General Worker I to join our Food Services team. This position plays a vital role in providing students with a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment, while ensuring meals are prepared and served in accordance with health and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to understand and follow written instructions, policies, and safety regulations.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation, serving techniques, and sanitation practices.
- Strong customer service orientation with a friendly, courteous demeanor.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and positively interact with students.
- Must be able to perform the essential physical demands of the role.

Job Goal:
To assist in the preparation, serving, and cleanup of school meals, ensuring a high standard of food quality, cleanliness, and service.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist with preparation and serving of meals in accordance with menu and recipe specifications.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, serving, and dining areas.
- Operate kitchen equipment and perform cashiering duties as assigned.
- Monitor and support students during lunch and recess periods.
- Adhere to all district policies and procedures, including HACCP and other health and safety standards.
- Foster a positive and cooperative work environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Physical Demands
- Standing: (Continuous) remain standing on one's feet on hard surfaces.
- Walking: (Frequent) moving from area to area.
- Lifting: (Frequent) Raising or lowering and object 5lbs to 50 lbs.
- Pushing/Pulling (Frequent) Exerting force upon and object to move that object to the desired location.

Terms of Employment:
Salary and work year as established by the Board of Education.
Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated annually by the Food Service Manager and Building Principal.
