About Community Kitchens Pilot Restaurant
The pilot restaurant will serve as a critical step in Community Kitchens journey to create scalable solutions for food justice, climate, and public health. The pilot will be a unique non-profit restaurant operation with an emphasis on community engagement and exploration of innovative models of pricing, payment, service, and community-building. Operating for dinner service four days per week, plus private events on most weeks, the pilot will run service July-November 2025 at Lower Eastside Girls Club in New York City.
About the Role
As a Pilot Hospitality Team Member, you are the face of Community Kitchen, creating a welcoming, inclusive, and uplifting environment for every guest. Youll guide guests through their experience with warmth and professionalism, ensuring a seamless service from arrival to departure.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly and assist with seating and service flow
- Provide informed, enthusiastic descriptions of the menu and ingredients, including our equitable sourcing practices
- Operate the POS system to process orders and payments efficiently
- Ensure proper pacing and coordination with the kitchen for timely food delivery
- Clear and reset tables with care and attention to detail
- Uphold Community Kitchens values of hospitality, food justice, and inclusivity
- Assist with community engagement activities such as surveys or casual conversations about our mission
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all FOH spaces
- Support event service on designated private dining nights
Qualifications
- Previous Front of House experience in restaurants, pop-ups, or hospitality preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for community-building, hospitality, and equitable food systems
- Comfortable with dynamic service formats (counter, seated, communal, etc.)
- Able to stand for extended periods and carry up to 30 lbs
Job Type, Start Date, and Duration
This is an on-site, temporary, full-time independent contractor role starting as early as August 18th 2025.
Compensation: Hourly ($32.00)
