We are hiring for a full-time Prep Team Member in our commissary kitchen in Prospect Heights. The functions of this role will assist in both food preparation & production shifts.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Schedule*:
- 5 Days / 35 Hours per week average / Tuesday - Saturday
- This schedule may fluctuate based on business needs
- No Overtime unless approved
This position is available immediately and there is always opportunity for long-term growth as we expand.
Job Overview
Prepare and assemble food items according to recipes and quality standards, maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, adhere to food safety guidelines.
Main Responsibilities
- Follow and execute recipes and assembly instructions accurately
- Maintain consistency and high-quality production at all times
- Set up and break down the workspace efficiently and thoroughly
- Keep the production area clean, organized, and well-stocked throughout the shift
- Comply with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations set by KDT, DOH, USDA, and FDA
- Demonstrate strong teamwork and collaboration with fellow team members during each shift
- Please note: This position may be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the business
What you'll be doing:
- Preparing ingredients for use in recipes
- Utilizing recipes to prepare product
- Assisting with production and/ or prep team
- Ensuring that all prepared items are labeled, dated, covered, monitored for quality and freshness.
- Following a Food Safety Plan and filling relevant logs
Requirements:
- At least 2 years of production (commissary or restaurant) experience
- Food Protection Certification (Food Handler's License) preferred
- A commitment to making a consistent product that you are proud of
- A self-starter and independent worker
- A desire to work smarter, and maximize your hours
- A team mentality and a good attitude
- A sense of urgency and a strong work ethic
- Experience in a high-volume restaurant or commissary / production-centric kitchen
- English comprehension
- This role requires attention to safety, physical dexterity and intermittently required to use hands, arms, legs, feet, body, and trunk to carry, lift/lower, push/pull up to 50 lbs.
