ER Registration Clerk Patient-Facing Role in a Fast-Paced Hospital Setting

Location: Kankakee, IL

Shifts Available: 2:30 PM 11:00 PM | 5:00 PM 1:30 AM

Pay Range: $18.00 $21.00/hour

Schedule: Rotating weekends | Occasional overnight flexibility preferred

About the Role

Join a compassionate and dynamic hospital registration team where every day brings new challenges and opportunities to make a difference. As an ER Registration Clerk, youll be the first point of contact for patients in the Emergency Department and Labor & Delivery, helping ensure accurate and efficient registration while providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform patient registration and insurance verification, ensuring accurate data collection.

• Interpret physician orders and coordinate bed assignments for timely patient placement.

• Identify insurance coverage issues and communicate options to patients and providers.

• Conduct bedside registration using mobile computer carts.

• Prepare and scan documents into electronic medical records.

• Provide wayfinding assistance and general hospital information to patients and visitors.

• Maintain inventory of forms and supplies.

• Assist with resolving patient account balances.

What Were Looking For

Top Skills:

• 12 years of customer service experience (healthcare or retail preferred).

• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Comfortable walking and standing for extended periods (up to 12 hours/day).

Preferred Experience:

• Emergency Room or outpatient registration background .

• Familiarity with EPIC or similar EMR systems.

Work Environment

• Fast-paced clinical setting with exposure to emergency situations.

• Must be comfortable interacting with sick or injured patients.

• Business casual dress code (no flip-flops, crocs, or leggings).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
