DMC Part Time Bartender

General Purpose:

Durango Mountain Club is an exclusive restaurant and club available to members only. We hold our staff to higher standards than a more casual dining experience so we can provide the premier experience that our members expect. We continue to grow and this is a great opportunity to join a high class organization! This is a seasonal part time position from August 15th, 2025 through the end of weekends only operations on 10/19/2025. This is a short term, part time position that could lead to a full time winter position for the right candidate. Hiring will be based not only on experience but also availability as we look to fill a small number of shifts for the remainder of the summer/fall season.

This position will remain open until filled.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Greet guests as they arrive, make them feel welcome

Take food and beverage orders accurately and input them into the POS system.

Serve food and drinks promptly and courteously, ensuring accuracy and presentation.

Check back with guests to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns or special requests.

Clear the bar promptly as patrons leave to make it inviting for incoming guests

Provide recommendations on menu items, specials, and promotions.

Upsell additional items such as appetizers, desserts, or drinks to enhance the guest experience.

Process payments and handle cash transactions accurately and in a timely manner.

Collaborate with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure smooth operations.

Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Experience and Abilities:

Previous experience in bartending required.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Knowledge of basic food and beverage service procedures.

Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Basic cocktail knowledge. Craft cocktail recipes will be provided.

Most importantly, making sure that each customer receives an immediate greeting when they arrive, no matter how busy you are. You must acknowledge them so they know that service is on its way.

Material and Equipment Directly Used:

POS (Point of Sale) System: POS systems are used to input orders, process payments, and manage transactions. They help streamline the ordering and payment process, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Cleaning Supplies: Servers use cleaning supplies such as cloths, spray bottles, and sanitizing solutions to clean tables, chairs, and other surfaces in the dining area.

Wine Openers and Corkscrews: Servers use wine openers and corkscrews to open bottles of wine for customers who order wine with their meals.

Working Environment/Physical Activities:

Fast-Paced Atmosphere: The restaurant industry often operates in a fast-paced environment, especially during peak hours. Servers must be able to work efficiently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Team Collaboration: Servers often work as part of a team, collaborating with kitchen staff, bartenders, hosts/hostesses, and other servers to ensure smooth operations and excellent customer service.

Customer Interaction: Bartenders interact directly with customers, taking orders, answering questions, and addressing concerns or special requests. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential.

Variable Hours: Servers may work shifts that vary in length and timing, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Flexibility in scheduling is often required to accommodate peak business hours.

Physical Demands:

Standing and Walking: Bartenders spend much of their shift on their feet.

Lifting and Carrying: Bartenders lift and carry trays of food, trays of drinks, kegs, and other items. Some items may be heavy or awkward to carry, requiring strength and balance.

Bending and Reaching: Bartenders frequently bend and reach for bottles and cocktail ingredients, as well as cleaning glassware in the sink behind the bar.

Stressful Situations: Bartending can be stressful at times, especially during busy periods or when dealing with demanding customers or unexpected issues. Bartenders must remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.

Education or Formal Training: High school diploma or equivalent
