Molly's Reach by Black Bean is the new location for the Black Bean Cafe which is a beloved cafe in Gibsons, BC. We are committed to serving our community with fresh food and providing a friendly, inclusive environment for our customers. We take pride in roasting our coffee on the coast, as well as serving a delightful selection of baked goods, sandwiches, soups, and other cafe favourites. We will be expanding our menu at the new location and will be providing a wider selection of baked goods, breakfast and lunch fare.
Job Description:
As a baker, you will be an integral part of our dynamic team, responsible for preparing and baking a variety of fresh baked goods and supporting with cafe prep. This role is perfect for those who thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a genuine passion for baking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and bake fresh baked goods, soups, and various sauces.
- Maintain high standards of quality and consistency in all products.
- Assist in developing new recipes and seasonal specials.
- Help with other cafe prep tasks as needed.
- Keep the kitchen area clean, organized, and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Interact with customers and provide excellent service with a friendly and welcoming attitude.
Qualifications:
- Previous baking/kitchen experience is preferred. Passion and willingness to learn are essential.
- Ability to perform physical tasks that include some heavy lifting (20 kg sugar/flour bags for example).
- Ability to work early mornings (4am).
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality baked goods.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Positive, friendly, and customer-focused attitude.
Position Details:
- Part-time. We are requiring morning baking shifts on Friday from approx 4am-12pm and Saturdays from approx 7am-2pm.
- Pay to be discussed based on experience but wages start at $22/hour. Baker will also be included in the tip pool which averages daily at $80-$100 per person).
