Job Overview
The Deputy Court Clerk II provides support to the Municipal Court by entering and processing all citations filed with the court, responds to customer inquiries by phone, mail, and email, and completes thorough reviews of cases for warrant.
Responsibilities
- Process all violations filed with the court including, but not limited to, entering violations, auditing the entry and scanning documents
- Stamp, separate and prepare citations for data entry
- Schedule cases for arraignment
- Create a complaint for each case filed
- Review cases to determine if they are eligible for warrant and schedule hearings
- Set eligible cases for court and send notifications
- Provide accurate, efficient, and courteous customer service to citizens by phone regarding case balances, plea options, requests for deferred disposition, driving safety courses, and any other information regarding court processes
- Review and respond to messages, inquiries, and requests received by mail, phone and email
- May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to type a minimum of 45 wpm with minimal to no errors
- Basic math; active listening; managing a high level of public interaction
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; fast, accurate data entry
Qualifications
- Requires a HS Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 6 months to two (2) years of related experience
- Must obtain Municipal Court Certification within 18 months of hire
- A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating
Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
