Building Systems Technician Program Coordinator

The Building Systems Technician Program Coordinator will collaborate with the Dean of Career Advancement Education and the Program Coordinator for Career Advancement Technologies to develop curriculum, scheduling of courses, provide instruction, and maintain equipment for the 30-credit Building Systems Certificate Degree, the Career Advancement Continuing Education HVAC courses, and related courses as qualified.
This position is funded by a West Virginia Community and Technical College System Technical Program Grant for the period of two years beginning July 1, 2025. This position is located at both The Pines Opportunity Center in Morgan County, and at the Technology Center in Martinsburg, but may report to all Blue Ridge CTC locations as required to meet the needs of the position.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis position will have a combination of tasks related to Career Advancement Continuing Education and degree seeking administration for the Building Systems Technician Certificate Degree. This position will assist with instruction in Mechatronics as needed by the Associate Dean of Mechatronics and Engineering Technologies.
- Recruit and enroll students into programs of study
- Prepare curriculum for assigned programs of study
- Instruct and deliver curriculum as scheduled for both Career Advancement and degree seeking courses.
- Take training as assigned to expand instructional abilities
- Work with faculty to plan for curriculum expansion, modifications, and deletions
- Set priorities for resource needs
- Assist in preparing state curriculum reports and grant data collection
- Participate in recruitment events with a goal of 25 students or more declaring the major
- Participate in industry-recognized certification training to continually upgrade technical skills
- Serve as a member of assigned committees and taskforces.
- Participate in the strategic planning processes for the School of Workforce.
- Conduct, analyze, and interpret data to make informed decisions.
- Availability and willingness to work a full 37.5 hours a week. Availability and willingness to work a flexible schedule that could include early morning, evening hours, or Saturdays.
- Performs assigned duties and any other duties to drive the Colleges Vision, to fulfil the Colleges Mission, and to abide by the Colleges Values.
Education & Experience
- Associates Degree or higher or ability to obtain an AAS in a trade or a related field.
- 10-15 years of building systems or HVAC work experience with required certifications.
- Teaching experience may be substituted for degree.
- Experience in a trade and training environment is preferred.
- Experience teaching adult workforce training.
- Willingness to learn online instruction techniques if needed for the curriculum
- At least 10 years of adult trainer experience in the trade related fields
- OSHA training and/or willingness to get OSHA trainer certified .
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- This position requires the ability to work independently to meet scheduling and enrollment deadlines
- Expert level for building systems especially HVAC, but also plumbing and building control systems.
- Ability to work in a busy environment

- Ability to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with faculty and administrators.
- Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with attention to detail.
- Commitment to following all College policies and procedures.
Licensure/Certification Required
- Valid drivers license required.
- EPA 609 and related trades certifications in order to instruct HVAC
Physical/Work Demands
Job duties are performed in a standard office work environment and require typical bending, stooping, sitting and carrying of light objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Travel by automobile to off-site locations is required on a daily to weekly basis. Must be able to work weekends or various shifts as assigned.
