The custodian is responsible for performing a variety of tasks and assignments to maintain the health, appearance and cleanliness standards of the college.

This is position is represented by the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE), Local 302Duty: Cleaning
Tasks include:
- Maintain cleanliness of floors, walls, ceilings, carpets, windows, furniture, fixtures, etc. using power equipment and hand tools, including, but not limited to, brooms, mops squeegees, vacuums and scrubbers.
- Fulfill cleaning requirements and expectations in all areas of responsibility, using proper cleaning techniques and appropriate chemicals, cleaning agents and tools/equipment.
- Participate in team cleaning as assigned.
- Adhere to work schedule and meal/ break periods at all times.
Duty: Waste management
Tasks include:
- Empty wastebaskets, garbage and trash containers.
- Properly operate the trash compactor in a safe and efficient manner. Report all trash compactor operational issues to the Lead Custodian or designee.
- Move recycling totes out of the assigned building for recycle contractor pickup as scheduled.
- Return totes to appropriate location the following day.
Duty: Perform minor maintenance
Tasks include:
- Repair or replace items such as, but not limited to, light bulbs or tubes, tighten door hinges and door plates.
- Perform operator maintenance on all equipment assigned such as vacuums, floor machines and carpet extractors by taking proper care of equipment cords, changing vacuum bags, belts, clean brushes, unblock hoses of debris and keep equipment clean and in order.
- Empty holding tanks and clean battery operated carpet extractors and auto scrubbers after every use. Safely check the water levels in all batteries and top off with appropriate fluids.
- Report all equipment malfunctions to the Lead Custodian immediately.
Duty: Professional development and perform other duties as assigned
Tasks include:
- Attend all training events, college events and meetings as directed by the Custodial Lead or Administration.
- Complete all online and other trainings required by Clover Park Technical College.
- Submit time and leave reports (TLR) in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- A minimum of two years of full time custodian experience.
- Valid Washington State driver's license, vehicle insurance and safe driving record.
- Must speak, read and write English fluently.
- More than two years of experience as a custodian or as general building maintenance.
- Experience in carpet care and extraction, stripping and waxing floors.

Our History
Clover Park Technical College is located in Lakewood, Washington. Our college has a rich history of professional and technical education dating back to the 1940s, when Clover Park School District established a War Production program, training civilians as auto mechanics, aircraft-service mechanics, ship-fitters, welders, and blueprint readers. Now, CPTC offers more than forty programs in Aerospace, Advanced Manufacturing, Health Sciences, Human Services, Business, Hospitality, Science Technology, Engineering, Transportation and Trades.
