Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma required.
  2. Proficient technology skills.
  3. Working knowledge of basic office procedures and the operation of common office equipment and machines.
  4. Pleasant and positive personality.
  5. Ability to take instructions and work well with others.
  6. Ability to assist the public with tact and enthusiasm.
  7. Experience with Office Professionals Programs; Word, Excel, etc. and a willingness to learn different computer programs.
  8. A genuine passion for working with children.

Reports to: Principal, Director or Supervisor

Supervises: Student helpers, volunteers, special clerical assistants and students as needed.

Job Goal: To respond quickly to inquiries from staff, the public, etc. to provide requested information and/or referral to other parties; and providing general clerical support as may be requested.

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Answers multiline telecommunication system for the purpose of screening calls, transferring calls, responding to inquiries and/or taking messages.
  2. Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. 3. Distributes mail, supplies, messages, menus, keys, etc. for the purpose of disseminating materials to appropriate parties.
  3. Evaluates situations (e.g. involving other staff, students, parents, the public, police, probation department, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  4. Greets public, parents, students, substitutes, vendors, etc. for the purpose of responding to their inquiries and/or directing them to appropriate personnel.
  5. Performs record keeping and a broad array of general and program specific clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, coping, faxing, etc.) for the purpose of supporting assigned administrator and/or site with necessary materials as may be required.
  6. Processes documents and materials for the purpose of disseminating information to appropriate parties.
  7. Responds to emergency calls for the purpose of notifying appropriate parties to address immediate safety issues
  8. Schedules a variety of activities (e.g. meetings, work orders, vendors, travel arrangements, staff coverage, facilities usage, etc.) for the purpose of assisting in meeting staff needs and efficient utilization of personnel, equipment and facilities.
  9. Performs other reasonable functions as requested by supervisor.

Terms of Employment: S4 FMSD Salary Schedule. 7 hours/day, 5 days/week or 35 hours/week. 190 days non-exempt. Initial placement on the salary schedule is based on a formula that considers experience and credentials.

Evaluation: Performance on this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation of noncertified personnel.
