Facility Maintenance Technician

ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks. Performance of building maintenance tasks in one or more fields (e.g., carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, etc.). Performs general cleaning and other tasks as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and execute the maintenance of facility installations such as air conditioning, plumbing, and ventilation.
  • Troubleshoot minor machinery and detect root causes of malfunctions.
  • Survey all facilities under ownership for potential faults and repairs.
  • Ensure all building systems are running at optimal efficiency and operational capacity.
  • Prepare work reports and collaborate with management to implement specific operating procedures.
  • Coordinate with other department heads, including the maintenance supervisor and maintenance technician, to make sure all maintenance processes are on track.
  • Perform all task in a safe manner.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions: · Ability to push/lift 75 pounds · Ability to climb ladders · Bending at waist, sitting, kneeling, climbing, walking, crouching as job may require · Ability to work in extreme temperatures · Working in high noise levels requiring hearing protection · Working around lubricants, solvents, batteries, cleaning fluids, paints.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Read, write, perform mathematical calculations, understand verbal or written instructions, provide verbal or written information to others, work continuous shift if requested, work scheduled or unscheduled overtime if requested, maintain a good attendance and punctuality record, follow all safety rules and maintain housekeeping in area of responsibility, work well with others, and distinguish colors correctly.

COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:

  • OJT - Will use company systems – CMMS.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have 1 or more years of documented work experience in a facilities role (required).
  • Skills and experience with facility maintenance required, including construction skills required to accomplish a range of building repairs.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
