Commercial Building Engineer/Mechanic
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor/Chief Engineer
Location: Multiple Sites - Including Medical Offices, Office Buildings, Retail Spaces, Garages, Parking Lots, and Event Venues.
Shift: 8 AM to 4:30 PM
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Commercial Building Technician to support the upkeep and maintenance of a dynamic portfolio of commercial properties. These include medical and office facilities, retail spaces, parking structures, and event venues. This hands-on role is critical to maintaining the safety, functionality, and presentation of our properties through daily maintenance and repair tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine and emergency maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
Conduct inspections and repairs for mechanical, lighting, fire/life safety, and building automation systems
Complete general building maintenance tasks such as drywall repair, painting, and ceiling tile replacement
Maintain lighting, gates, and surface integrity in garages and parking lots
Support snow removal and seasonal outdoor maintenance
Respond promptly to tenant service requests and maintain a professional appearance across all sites
Maintain safety compliance, service logs, and inspection documentation
Collaborate with vendors and contractors as needed
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; technical training or trade certifications preferred
Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial property maintenance
Strong skills in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical repairs and troubleshooting
Ability to read blueprints and follow schematics is a plus
Experience using Microsoft Office Outlook, Word and Excel, and work order systems (Yardi experience is a plus)
Valid driver's license required
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
Regular exposure to outdoor elements and varying noise levels
Must be able to move across properties, use tools, and interact with system components
Requires visual acuity, manual dexterity, and ability to operate maintenance equipment
