Join a small team at a new cafe in Ballard serving specialty coffee and world-inspired drinks/bites

Cardoon is a cafe bar serving made-in-house Chinese and German-inspired treats and light bites, specialty coffee / tea, and low-and-no alcohol beverage concoctions. We are a new women- and asian- owned business with a small team hiring for our Ballard cafe space. From October 2022-October 2023, we operated the cafe space at the nearby National Nordic Museum. We opened our own brick and mortar location last March and are growing our team!

We are looking for a Barista / FoH Specialist to join our small team and help us continue to provide excellent hospitality through the medium of specialty coffee and house made bites, in an intentional and relatable way. We re looking for someone with full-time availability including both weekend days. Shifts this role will cover include Wednesday - Sunday 8AM - 5PM, which includes closing responsibilities. This role is $20.80 / hr to start (bonus potential after 90 days) and is included in the tip pooling with the rest of non-management staff. Tip rates vary, but have ranged from $8-$10/hr in the past few pay periods.

Role Responsibilities

Make moments that matter with customers at the register and around the dining space

Create and deliver well-crafted coffee and other mixed drinks (including cocktails), as well as beer and wine

Understand the values of our brand and use them to provide excellent hospitality and work effectively with all staff members

Maintaining a clean and safe environment while working is everyone s responsibility - keep your workstation tidy, proactively busing dirty dishes, doing the dishes

Communicate effectively with teammates, including sharing and being receptive to feedback

Maintain delightful product presentation - plate or package food items served at the cafe, including assembly of grab-and-go products, minor prep, and final touches (ex: mixing syrup, toasting food)

About You

Humble, supportive, and collaborative

Care about making and presenting quality products consistently

Organized, able to multitask and get the job done in a timely manner

Prior hospitality or customer service experience a must, particularly in a specialty coffee setting

Food service or bar experience a plus
