CUSTODIAN - PART TIME - Custodial Services
JOB SUMMARY:
Under supervision, clean facilities and perform event setups and breakdowns. Work schedules will vary between days and evening. However, schedules may change due to the needs of the division and employees may be required to work weekends. Perform other related work as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Operate vacuum cleaner and buffer. Strip and finish floors. Operate carpet and furniture shampoo machine. Operate steam-cleaning machine. Change vacuum belts and pads on both buffer and floor maintainer. Clean equipment. Perform minor servicing of equipment. Dust all areas of buildings and furniture. Assist in set ups: tables, chairs, dance floors, stages, risers, and other various meeting room equipment; assists in breakdowns and storage of equipment including tables, chairs, risers, and various meeting room equipment. Understand and correctly implement verbal and written job instructions and written product warning labels. Communicate courteously and effectively with other city employees, officials, and the public. Use good judgment to work safely and use equipment properly. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment and supplies. Pull, push, and/or drag up to 150 pounds of equipment. Stand, walk, twist, and/or stoop for extended periods of time while making repairs and setting up meeting room equipment. Drive to other locations to pick up supplies when needed. Some exposure to dust, fumes, and hazardous cleaning chemicals, using appropriate safety precautions and equipment. Work effectively as team member.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Change vacuum belts and pads on both buffer and floor maintainer. Clean equipment; perform minor servicing and/or preventive maintenance on equipment.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, DEGREES, CERTIFICATES, AND/OR LICENSES:
Completion of eleventh grade required; High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred. Texas Drivers License, Class C required.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:
Preferred knowledge of all types of cleaning chemicals, floor finishes, and their application. Preferred knowledge in the use of floor buffer/bonnet machine, Extractor machine, Buffer/Propane machine. Must be able to communicate courteously and effectively with other city employees and the public. Must be able to work effectively as team member.
