## **Overview**

Join the State of Vermonts Department of Buildings and General Services

(BGS) as an Institutional Custodian!

This position will be responsible for custodial and light maintenance

work at the Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital (VPCH), ensuring a clean,

safe, and secure environment for patients and staff.

Duties include cleaning patient rooms, bathrooms, offices, and common

areas; stripping and waxing floors; spot-cleaning carpets; operating

floorcare equipment; maintaining inventory and requesting supplies; and

reporting repair needs. The Custodian may also assist with training

others on cleaning methods and equipment use.

This position requires a valid drivers license and successful completion

of a background check. Work schedule to be determined.

## **Environmental Factors**

Duties are performed in a hospital or rehabilitation environment,

including office, classroom, and patient care settings. Direct

interaction with patients or residents may be extensive, leading to

potential exposure to infectious disease or physical injury. Duties may,

at times, extend beyond the normal daytime and work week hours. Must be

able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition

and ability to climb ladders and lift heavy weights and equipment (up to

60 lbs.) is necessary. Some overtime may be required.
