Job Summary

DEFINITION Under limited supervision, to perform basic and routine custodial and grounds maintenance work; to keep assigned areas in clean, safe and orderly condition; and to do related work as required. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is an entry level classification in the areas of custodial, grounds and utility work. Positions in this class normally follow a routine schedule in the maintenance of buildings and grounds. Incumbents will typically perform some duties of both custodial and grounds assignments.

Requirements / Qualifications

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Prior experience in cleaning building interiors or grounds maintenance activities is desirable; equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade; or any combination of training and/or experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities.

Must be able to pass the district's Custodian Grounds I exam. All sections of the application must be FULLY completed even if a resume is submitted. Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of the completed application. Three (3) references must be listed on the completed application. All attachments must be submitted online with application. All bulleted items must be current within one year. Employees in this class shall be required to hold a valid California driver's license to operate the assigned District vehicle, and to maintain record required for regular District automobile insurance. Job Posting is subject to close at the District's discretion. Selected applicants that do not have a Custodian Grounds test on file will be contacted for testing. Upon offer of employment, individuals will need to complete an application for a criminal background clearance through the Department of Justice. Authorization to employ cannot be granted according to state law until the criminal background clearance from DOJ/FBI has been received. This position is subject to Board Policy 4212.3, which requires persons who are offered employment in certain classified positions to submit to pre-employment physical examinations, including a urinalysis drug screen.
