PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Performs housekeeping, maintenance, landscaping, driving, and laundry duties as workload demands and staffing needs require, as determined by the Director Facility Operations.
Empties and cleans all wastebaskets in the recycling rooms, empties trash compactors, trash in other areas throughout facility, and transports the trash to the outside compactor.
Dry mops, wet mops floors and operates floor buffing equipment.
Performs heavy duty cleaning of floors and carpets, removing soil and the finish of floors with mechanical stripping equipment and stripping solution.
Maintains all chemicals in their proper containers with the appropriate labels. Maintains supplies at the proper level in assigned areas, uses the proper cleaning product for the items to be cleaned.
Performs limited repairs and painting that maintain the safety and aesthetic appearance of the facility. Changes light bulbs, works on TV/Cables and telephone problems when needed.
Moves furniture and equipment (such as tables, chairs and etc.) by use of handcarts or dollies.
Visually inspects the area upon completion of cleaning to ensure appropriate levels of cleanliness and neatness have been achieved. Focuses on resident satisfaction where quality improvement is evident in all aspects of work.
Cleans and performs routine maintenance on sanitation equipment and notifies your supervisor of equipment needing repair. Returns unused supplies to utility room, cleans cart and equipment, and maintains a clean and organized supply closet.
Operates small equipment for outdoor maintenance tasks. Which could include
snow blower, blowers, spreaders, trimmers and etc.
Follows all safety and infection control procedures according to Federal, State and Facility policies, so that tasks are performed in a manner that assures resident, personal, co-workers, and facility property are safe.
Demonstrates, promotes and integrates the mission of the Sisters of Providence Health System and its core values in daily work activities.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Work requires a high school diploma or equivalent and six to twelve months of previous work related experience.
Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions in English; housekeeping experience in preferred. Three months of on-the-job training and orientation will be provided.
Occasionally requires contact with residents and or visitors, which requires extended respect and courtesy.
Must have valid drivers license required by the state of Massachusetts or state of residence and a good driving record.
WORKING CONDITIONS:Requires lifting objects weighing up to 75 pounds, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, reaching and grasping objects, standing for up to two hours at a time, climbing, ascending or descending ladders, working every other weekend and every other holiday.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:Reports to the Director of Facility Operations.
Has no responsibility for supervising the work of other employees
