Job Summary:
Performs under the supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor, daily cleans patient care and non-patient care floor areas of the hospital. Primary responsibility is to maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and aesthetic appeal of all hospital floors. Responsible for responding favorably to requests to adjust daily workflow or area assignments to meet facility needs. High/Low Dusting, cleaning restrooms and fixtures, terminal cleaning of isolation rooms and non-isolation rooms after patient has been discharged. Disinfecting beds and making of after patient has been discharged. Assists Nursing in moving beds, pulling trash, mopping floors, cleaning of windows and blinds. Respond to all calls pertaining to their assigned areas and implement the 7 step cleaning procedures. Possesses technical skills required to properly use cleaning and maintenance chemicals, floor equipment prescribed by written procedures of the environmental services department. Actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications, behaves in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication.

Essential Functions:
- Primary Responsibilities:
o Performs all types of floor care and maintenance throughout the facility, including hard surfaces and carpeting.
o Cleans and performs routine maintenance on floor equipment; requesting assistance from plant operations and maintenance as needed.
o Maintains accurate floor care logs and checklists
o Operates all equipment with care and according to facility and manufacturers safety standards and procedures.
- Cleaning of restrooms, tub rooms, utility rooms, nourishment rooms, showers and fixtures.
- Conducts a complete cleaning of patient and treatment rooms.
- Cleaning of offices and Nursing Station.
- Mopping and vacuuming of assigned areas.
- Terminal Cleaning and Isolation Rooms
- Responds to all calls for their assigned areas.
- Implements the 7 step cleaning procedures. Uses clear, concise, professional communication with coworkers, patients, all customers internal and external.
- Uses AIDET in interactions with patients and family members.
- Acts with a sense of urgency when performing tasks.
- Basic unit/department maintenance such as keeping files, drawers, cabinets free from unnecessary clutter.
- Reports on any equipment and or environmental issues for repair.
- Abides by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations.
- Participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives including, but not limited to, initiatives to improve HCAHPS scores as it relates to hospital cleanliness & “always quiet.”
- Speaks up to stop the line and escalates potential safety events if necessary.
- Completes and attends monthly training assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience:
- Two (2) years hospital EVS experience preferred.
- Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, strong organizational skills, ability to follow verbal instructions, and PC (computer) skills.
- A capacity to learn, synthesize, make critical judgments, work independently, place patients and families first, and collaborate with the team members who are recognized leaders within healthcare.
- Knowledge and skills in the use of power equipment, conventional and high-speed floor machines, carpet cleaning equipment, wet, dry and power vacuum equipment and push sweeper.
