Job Description

GROUNDSKEEPER JOB DESCRIPTION

EDWARDSVILLE COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT #7

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintenance of grounds

Cuts and maintains grass

Trim, prune and spray bushes/trees/shrubs

Trims and edges

Maintains and repairs irrigation system

Performs landscaping

Applies pesticides, fertilizer and other chemicals

Prepares and marks athletic fields

Maintains sidewalks and parking lots, including sealing, painting and marking, patching and repairs

Snow removal

Regularly services and maintains vehicles and equipment

Repairs and replaces signage/fences

Any and all other duties assigned by a Supervisor regardless of whether or not such duties are included in this job description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Superior work habits and ethics - self motivates

Ability to work well with administration, students, faculty and staff

Ability to work independently and ensure timely completion of work orders

Ability to perform all duties of the position

Has passed pesticide examine and can do right of ways, ornamental and turf-grass spraying

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Lifting, pulling, pushing and moving items (some in excess of 100 pounds) on an occasional basis

Lifting, pulling, pushing and moving items (20 to 40 pounds) on a regular and repetitive basis

Emptying trash cans and carts on a regular and repetitive basis (between 5 and 40 pounds)

Carrying/moving scrub buckets containing up to 3 gallons of water (24+ pounds)

Reaching on a regular and repetitive basis over head and below knees

Stooping, kneeling, bending action on a regular and repetitive basis

Cleaning restroom surfaces on a daily/regular basis requiring stooping, kneeling, bending and hand scrubbing of all surfaces

All tasks require extensive use of hands including repetitive gripping, grasping, lifting, manipulation of tools, etc. and the ability to ambulate independently and lift significant weight and sized items

Operate tractors, riding lawn mowers and all other equipment necessary to perform the job duties

Position Type:Full-Time

Salary:$19.10 to $20.38 Per Hour
