Job Title: Lead Bartender
Location: Contra Costa Country Club, Pleasant Hill, CA
Reports To: Food & Beverage Director
Position Summary:
The Lead Bartender plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional beverage service and hospitality at our private country club. This position is responsible for overseeing bar operations, crafting innovative cocktails, curating wine selections, managing inventory, training bar staff, and ensuring smooth floor operations in the absence of senior management. The Lead Bartender also serves as Banquet Bar Captain for club events, ensuring high standards of service and execution.

Key Responsibilities:
Cocktail & Beverage Program Development

Design and implement seasonal and signature cocktail menus tailored to member preferences.
Collaborate with the culinary team to create beverage pairings for special events and dining experiences.
Maintain knowledge of current mixology trends and techniques.
Wine Menu Curation

Develop and maintain an engaging and diverse wine list.
Conduct tastings and training sessions for staff to enhance wine knowledge and service.
Work with vendors to source premium selections and negotiate pricing.
Inventory & Cost Management

Oversee ordering, receiving, and storage of all bar-related inventory.
Monitor usage and implement controls to minimize waste and manage costs.
Maintain accurate records and conduct regular inventory audits.
Staff Leadership & Training

Train and mentor bartenders and barbacks on service standards, mixology, and club policies.
Lead pre-shift meetings and ensure team readiness for service.
Foster a positive and professional work environment.
Floor Management

Act as the point of contact for bar and lounge operations during service.
Step into a supervisory role when lead managers are not present.
Ensure member satisfaction through attentive service and problem resolution.
Banquet Bar Captaining

Lead bar setup and service for private events, weddings, and club functions.
Coordinate with banquet managers and event planners to ensure seamless execution.
Supervise temporary staff and ensure consistency in service quality.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3–5 years of bartending experience, preferably in a high-end or private club setting.
Proven experience in cocktail creation and wine program development.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Knowledge of inventory systems and cost control practices.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol Certification preferred.
