SUMMARY
The Market at Pineland Farms is seeking part-time baker to join their very talented team. This is a year-round position; we will not be hiring seasonal staff for this job. The ideal candidate will be a hardworking person with a great attitude and a willingness to learn from and work with others. Candidates with previous experience in baking will be given priority in our hiring process, but we are willing to train the right person with no experience. This team member will learn to bake bagels from scratch while working 2-3 shifts per week, primarily mornings starting at 5AM. Sundays are mandatory (occasional time off requests will be honored). Pay rate starts at $17/hour (more with experience), plus pooled tips.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Follow established recipes accurately meeting food safety standards
Operate commercial baking equipment (e.g., ovens, mixers, etc.).
Ensure all baked goods meet freshness and quality standard
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations.
Properly handle and store all baking ingredients and supplies per safety and established protocols.
Interact with customers when needed, providing product information and taking orders.
Ability to collaborate with other kitchen and bakery staff

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving standardized situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. This position takes place in an indoor kitchen setting, often around hot ovens and stoves. Temperatures can rise, especially during the summer months, due to continuous oven use. The role is front-facing, requiring interaction with the public. A bakery environment is typically fast-paced, and physically demanding. Bakers are expected to maintain high levels of hygiene and adhere to strict safety protocols while working with specialized equipment. The work often involves early mornings, standing for long periods, and close collaboration with a team. The employee is occasionally exposed to cleaning chemicals. Potential workplace hazards include burns and cuts; appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as aprons and cut-resistant gloves, is provided to ensure safety.
