Mattos Hospitality the group behind some of New York Citys most celebrated dining destinations, including Michelin-starred estela and the beloved Altro Paradiso is seeking a thoughtful, driven Sommelier to join our team.

We are looking for a professional with a strong foundation in wine knowledge, curiosity to keep learning, and a genuine desire to connect with guests through hospitality.

This position works closely with the Senior Director and leadership team to support and execute the restaurants wine program at a high level.

Weekend availability is required.

Key Focus

  • Deliver a thoughtful, refined guest experience through wine service
  • Guide guests with confidence tailoring recommendations to individual preferences and menu selections
  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of classic regions, producers, and styles, with curiosity for emerging areas
  • Contribute to a culture of learning by sharing knowledge with the team in an approachable way
  • Support the integrity and organization of the wine program, from cellar to service

Wine & Program

  • Execute wine service with precision and consistency across all service periods
  • Maintain, organize, and restock the cellar in alignment with program standards
  • Ensure wine stations are clean, organized, and fully prepared for service
  • Partner with the Director on inventory, purchasing, and program development
  • Participate in ongoing education and contribute to the evolution of the wine list

Team & Communication

  • Lead by example in service, professionalism, and attention to detail
  • Actively contribute to pre-shift by educating the team on wines, pairings, and updates
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with the dining room, kitchen, and management team
  • Support teammates during service while maintaining ownership of responsibilities

Guest Experience

  • Create genuine connections with guests through thoughtful, personalized service
  • Anticipate needs and adapt to a wide range of guest knowledge levels
  • Recognize and build relationships with returning guests
  • Handle guest feedback with professionalism and care, involving management when appropriate

Service Standards

  • Act as part of the team to maintain the high standards of cleanliness and appearance throughout all areas of the restaurant both before, during and after service.
  • Reliably complete all assigned side work.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Department of Health (DOH) standards.

Physical Demands:

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($11.35) plus tips
