Essential skills for a Bar Staffer include excellent customer service skills, strong communication skills, the ability to multitask, and physical stamina, as they spend most of their shift on their feet. Knowledge of mixology and cocktail preparation is also crucial. Additionally, certifications in food and beverage safety training and alcohol awareness programs, like the ServSafe Alcohol certification, are typically required. Prior to becoming a Bar Staffer, a person may have roles such as a Bar Back or Bar Assistant, where they support bartenders and learn the ropes of the profession.
