POSITION OVERVIEW

The Restaurant Host serves as the face of our dining experience, creating memorable first impressions through gracious hospitality and refined professionalism. This role requires a natural warmth combined with impeccable attention to detail and the ability to orchestrate seamless dining experiences even during peak periods. The ideal candidate will embody our ethos of understated luxury and anticipatory service while maintaining operational excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Guest Experience

Greet guests with genuine warmth and a polished demeanor, reflecting our luxury boutique atmosphere

Manage the reservation system with precision, accommodating special requests whenever possible

Escort guests to their tables, providing a brief introduction to the restaurant concept and experience

Anticipate and accommodate special occasions, dietary restrictions, and VIP guests

Maintain ongoing communication with service team to ensure seamless guest experiences

Address any guest concerns with grace, empathy, and effective resolution

Operational Excellence

Manage dining room flow to optimize seating efficiency while ensuring guest comfort

Maintain an accurate waitlist during busy periods, providing realistic wait times and alternatives

Coordinate with service team to ensure appropriate pacing of reservations

Monitor table status throughout service to maximize capacity while preventing bottlenecks

Maintain impeccable presentation of host stand, entrance area, and dining room

Answer phone calls promptly and professionally, handling reservations and inquiries with courtesy

Team Collaboration

Communicate effectively with management, service staff, and kitchen team

Provide detailed guest information to servers, including special occasions and preferences

Assist with service recovery efforts when needed

Support other front-of-house positions during peak periods

Contribute to pre-shift meetings with relevant updates and information

Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS Required Experience & Skills

1+ years of experience in a host/hostess role, preferably in fine dining or luxury hospitality

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Polished, professional appearance and demeanor

Basic knowledge of food and beverage offerings

Computer proficiency, including reservation systems and POS software

Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment

Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a luxury hotel restaurant or fine dining establishment

Knowledge of OpenTable or similar reservation management systems

Multilingual capabilities

Understanding of wine service and fine dining protocols

Background in customer service or hospitality
