Groundskeeper Jobs in Illinois
A Groundskeeper in the hospitality service industry is responsible for maintaining the aesthetic appeal and functionality of outdoor spaces at hospitality establishments like resorts, hotels, and golf courses. Their duties often include landscaping, lawn maintenance, planting and pruning trees and flowers, trash removal, snow removal, and maintaining outdoor fixtures like walkways and fountains. They might also be responsible for maintaining and operating irrigation systems, applying fertilizers and pesticides, and general repair and maintenance tasks. The ultimate goal of a Groundskeeper is to keep outdoor spaces clean, safe, and inviting for guests.
Important skills for a Groundskeeper in the hospitality service industry include physical stamina, attention to detail, and a basic understanding of horticulture. Some Groundskeeper positions may require specific certifications such as a pesticide applicator's license or a Certified Grounds Technician (CGT) credential. Prior to becoming a Groundskeeper, a person may hold roles such as a Landscaping Laborer, Maintenance Worker, or Janitorial Staff, where they would gain experience in outdoor maintenance and develop skills necessary for the Groundskeeper role.
