They should also have a keen sense of taste and smell, and in-depth knowledge of winemaking and wine regions worldwide. As for certifications, a Wine Steward should preferably have an accredited qualification from organizations like the Court of Master Sommeliers or the Wine and Spirit Education Trust. Prior to becoming a Wine Steward, individuals might have roles such as a Wine Sales Representative, Restaurant Server, or Beverage Manager, where they gain experience in the hospitality industry and knowledge of wines.
